Ep #77  Rejoicing With Women Who Walked with Jesus: Storytelling in Song by Karyn Lynn Grant Have you ever wondered what it might be like to take a journey through ancient times into the lives of the women in the scriptures?  What did the women in ancient times feel?  What trials did they face?  How did they overcome their challenges?  When their confidence in the world in which they lived faltered, who buoyed them up?  Who inspired them to keep putting one foot in front of the other? 

As a young mother, Karyn began asking questions like these.  Quietly, in the middle of the night, she would rise to nurse her baby back to sleep and while she did she turned to the scriptures to find solace and comfort.  The pages seemed to open miraculously to the very story she needed, in exactly the right moment; to build her faith and confidence in the Savior.  Slowly, she learned to trust in Him.  Day be day, she began giving Him her heart as she faced the trials in her own life.

It was through songwriting about the sweet vignettes that Karyn envisioned in her mind as she read the verses about women, that Karyn's trust in the Savior began to deepen.  Karyn produced her first two cds about women in the scriptures, "The Morning Light" and "With Perfumed Oil" when she was 28.

After losing her voice for four years, Karyn prayed fervently to be able to write and sing more songs for Jesus.  At 54, she compiled a new CD, "A Joyful Heart" -- with a new perspective about the women in The New Testament.

"The Crowning Jewel" will follow in Part Two, with more songs about women with  extraordinary faith in God.   The women of The Old Testament had a trial of their faith much like ours today.  Unlike the women of The New Testament who were permitted to see Christ in the flesh, the Old Testament women, like women of this Latter Day,  had to learn how to walk by faith in order to prepare the hearts of the children for the Messiah's birth.
